cHOROS - Private Open Space

Lavender Barn, Hitchin

cHOROS was commissioned to design the grounds surrounding a new residential home for Leonard Cheshire. The development was split into three wings with shared car parking.

The gardens were designed to provide private terraces to each apartment which were linked via a footpath, to two communal courtyards. The grounds were planted with trees and shrubs to provide colour and interest all year. A small orchard would provide fruit for use in the kitchen. Large pergolas provided shade for the residents and helped to reduce glare inside the building.
