cHOROS - Public Open Space
Greenwich University and new Conference Centre.
Mount Anvil Construction commissioned cHOROS to work with them to develop parts of Greenwich University buildings and a new Conference Centre.
West Hertfordshire
cHOROS were commissioned by West Hertfordshire Crematorium to design a Babies Remembrance Garden for babies that are not born. It was not intended to contain cremated remains but to allow grieving parents a quiet space to visit and reflect. cHOROS rose to the challenge by designing a smooth flowing curved path that wound the length of the linear site to create a voyage of discovery culminating in a pebble stream, pond and pergola. A wide range of materials, shapes, patterns, feature boulders etc represent the various facets of a baby. The Garden incorporates scented plants, autumn colour and small delicate flowers following a baby theme.
Stones were selected to show a range of colours such as warm pinks and creams, mixed whites, greens, blues etc and included stones that were speckled in colour, striped or showed bands and ribbons to provide interest.
The colours and textures in the garden are intended to provide the opportunity for a visitor to site quietly, absorbed in thier own thoughts whilst looking at the rocks and watching and listening to the sound of water flowing down the stream. Today the sunlight glistens on the water and the pond and stream have become home to a wide range of aquatic life and a water hole for local birds
