cHOROS - Company Profile

cHOROS a Chartered Landscape Architectural Practice was founded in 1983 by Katharine Gillings BA DipLA CMLI.

Katharine started her career working in Glasgow and then in Liverpool on the 1984 International Garden Festival before being based in London. Early work was grounded in mixed development residential schemes and sheltered accommodation for Architects and Housing Associations.

Later work she worked abroad in Bahrain and Jordan where she presented her work to the then Crown Prince of Jordan.

Today cHOROS encompasses a multi disciplinary environmental team with a variety of professional skills.

Our team includes Landscape Architects, Forestry and Management Consultants, Organic Garden Management, Fine artists and those with extensive 2D and 3D CAD and animated movie skills and other specialist professionals who have worked together on a variety of schemes over many years.

Katharine is a Landscape Judge at the annual What House? Awards, the ‘Oscars’ of the building industry.

Katharine is a past Chairman of the JLO a multi-disciplinary organisation formed in 1957 to promote closer understanding and liaison between younger members of the construction industry. The JLO provided a platform for the cross fertilisation of ideas between members and the sponsoring institutions. It existed as a ‘ginger group’ challenging institutions traditional attitude with a view to exploring constructive proposals for change.
